02 - 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
05 - 2 large eggs
06 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
07 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
08 - 1 teaspoon baking soda
09 - 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

10 - 1 quart vanilla ice cream
11 - 1/2 cup chocolate sauce, warmed
12 - 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
13 - Whipped cream
14 - Maraschino cherries
# Method:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring overhang for easy removal.
02 - In a large bowl, use an electric mixer or whisk to beat softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until mixture is light and fluffy.
03 - Incorporate vanilla extract and eggs, adding them one at a time and blending until thoroughly combined.
04 - Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda together in a separate bowl. Gradually blend dry mixture into wet ingredients just until integrated.
05 - Using a spatula, gently fold chocolate chips into the dough ensuring even distribution.
06 - Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden and set. Remove and cool completely in the pan.
07 - Once fully cooled, lift the bars from the pan using parchment overhang and cut into even portions using a sharp knife.
08 - In each serving bowl, place a cookie dough bar. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with warm chocolate sauce, scatter nuts if desired, and finish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
